BIOGRAPHY

In a career spanning 22 years, I've created visual effects for over 30 feature films, including The Sum of All Fears, Superman Returns, The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, 2012, and Into The Storm.

I joined Digital Domain as a digital artist in 2008, where my first commercial with VFX Supervisor Jay Barton, Bacardi “Sundance”, won the V.E.S. Award for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Commercial.

Since then, I've served as Visual Effects Supervisor on 28 commercials including United Airlines “Departures” and “Network” with director Carl Rinsch, Infiniti “Winter”, “Competitive”, and “Snowball”, UFC “Evolution”, Pam “Haunted”, NBA2K13 “Enter the New Dynasty”, and Omega “Planet Ocean”. I've also created unique and innovative imagery as a digital artist and CG Supervisor for commercials such as Halo 4 “Neuron”, Lincoln MKS “Cleaner, Faster, Smarter”, and Mazda 3 “Red & White”.

In 2013, I served as VFX Supervisor for Liberty Group Ltd. "The Answer", which was nominated for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Commercial and Outstanding Created Environment in a Commercial at the 2013 V.E.S. Awards.

In March of 2014, I formed Atkinson Media, Inc. and began a new adventure as a freelance VFX Supervisor/Digital Artist. I joined up with Mirada Studios as VFX Supervisor for Apple's "Evolution of Retina" as well as commercials for Wendy's, Hasbro, Midas, and Comcast.  I also work extensively on the box, creating Houdini FX and lighting for commercials, game trailers and VR experiences.   My clients include MPC LA, Psyop, Digital Domain, Framestore LA, and Arsenal.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Computer Science before earning my M.F.A. in Cinema-Television at USC, where I received the Edward Small Memorial Award for Excellence in Directing.

My first industry job in 1996 was an internship at Rhythm & Hues Studios, which led to a 10-year position including FX, lighting, and sequence supervisory roles. Before joining Digital Domain, I also served as an FX supervisor and digital artist at Framestore CFC London.

I'm currently a member of the Visual Effects Society.
